How Much Does CCTV Installation Cost in Auckland?

It's the first question almost everyone asks us, and it's a fair one. The honest answer is "it depends," but that's not much help when you're trying to budget. So here's what actually moves the price up and down, plus some rough Auckland figures for 2026.

What you’re really paying for

The cameras themselves are usually the smaller part of the bill. Most of the cost is in getting a tidy, reliable system that still works in three years’ time. The main things that change the price are:

• How many cameras, and how far apart they are (more cable, more labour)
• Indoor vs outdoor, and whether you need night vision or wider angles
• The recorder and how many days of footage you want to keep
• Whether the cabling run is easy or means going through walls and ceilings
• Remote viewing on your phone, and whether you want cloud backup of the footage

Rough ballpark for Auckland (2026)

Every site is different, so treat these as a starting point rather than a quote. As a rough guide we usually see:

• A small home or shop (3–4 cameras): roughly $1,200–$2,500 supplied and installed
• A typical small business (6–8 cameras): roughly $3,000–$6,000
• Larger or multi-area sites: priced per site once we’ve had a look

Those figures assume good-quality gear (brands like Hikvision, HiLook and Uniview), properly installed, not the cheapest kit off a marketplace.

Cheap cameras vs the right cameras

You can buy a four-camera box set online for a few hundred dollars, and for some homes that's genuinely fine. Where it falls down is when the footage is too grainy to actually identify anyone, the night vision is hopeless, or the app stops working after an update. For a business, especially if you ever need footage for insurance or police, it's worth getting cameras with enough resolution to be useful and a recorder that won't quietly stop recording.
